Power Point Viewer

I have a new XPS 8700 running Windows 8.1.  I have Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 which includes Power Point 2013.  I can't determine if I have a viewer included in it or not.  How do I tell?  And if I don't, should I download the Power Point viewer 2013 or another one?

Thanks..............Zeppy

The full Powerpoint program includes the Powerpoint creating/editing and viewing software.  To view a slideshow, click on the button that looks like a projector screen on a stand - it is at the bottom right just to the left of the zoom slider bar (the one with the - and + signs at either end) once you have the Powerpoint file opened in Powerpoint.

Or, you can hit F5 to start the slideshow, and the right arrow key to go forward, and the left arrow key to go backward.  ESC gets you out of the slideshow and back to the editing page.  Spacebar and left mouse click will also go forward.  Right mouse click will bring up a small menu which you can use to go forwards and backwards.

Files with PPT or PPTX extensions (Powerpoint Presentations) open in edit mode, then you have to manually launch the slideshow as stated above.

But if you save them as PPS or PPSX files (Powerpoint Slideshows), they will start as slideshows as soon as you double click on them.

The X at the end denotes that the file is for Office versions 2007 and newer.  The non-X files are for older versions of Office.

There is an option to download just a Powerpoint viewer, it is free from Microsoft.

Thanks garya - your message prompted me to look down in the task bar and click on the Power Point icon there, which opened up the file.  I was used to the older version whereby I only had to click once on the file name and the program opened..

All is good now.  Thanks.............zeppy
