I am working on getting this information. It appears the only difference is the support for different processors. They are all made by foxcon. I will post back whe I get the information correct.
I'm also intrested in the outcome of this thread. Has there been any progress? Which board of the Precision 670 supports dual core Xeon and which does not?
I gave up on getting a response from anyone on this.
I picked up a machine off eBay a couple weeks ago that, based on the service tag, appeared to have an XC837 motherboard installed. I have since installed my two dual-core processors into the machine, and it is working fine, I'm using it right now to post this message.
Hi, i came here to ask the same question you did about processor upgrades for the precision 670 and if it could run dual or quad core processors(OU7565 motherboard)? The other question I had was,is the precision 650 able to take the xeon 3.2ghz processors from the 670? From what i can find it seems they are but don't want to blow anything up trying... i am a nooblett to this.. Any help/answers would be much appreciated.

From what I gather, most of us out here are trying to squeeze a couple more years out of our 670s. Most of us just need to know if we can upgrade to the Tulsa Xeons in the boards popular to the 670 series My board is the U7565.
