Precision 690 Power On Problem
I have a 690, dual core, 8 Gb ram, 750w PSW.
After power down the system won't power up unless the BIOS is reset (removing battery, etc.). When the power cord is plugged in thestart button lights up, the fans activate then it shuts down and displays a code 4. Pressing the start button gets no response.
I've reseated the power connections and the ram and tried with minimal configuration.
Any insight is appreciated.

Hi lastolddinosaur,
To assist you further on this issue, let me know the color and status (blinking /steady) of Power button light. Also post status of system diagnostics LED lights on the front panel (1, 2, 3 and 4).
Check if the system is displaying any errors on the screen. Count the number of beeps after each interval when the system is switched On.
Please reply for further help.

The following occurs if you DO NOT clear the BIOS:
Connect the power cord to the power supply and
1. diag light are (green) 3-4 then 1-3-4 then 4 and the ws shuts down.
2. the fans do not spool up
If you clear the BIOS then plug in the power cord to the power supply the fans spool up, the ws boots then starts win7 and you log in.

Hi lastolddinosaur,
Diagnostics LED pattern 1-3-4 Indicates a possible Power supply unit failure or Power supply unit cables may not be properly connected to the hardware components in the system tower.
Reseat all the power supply cables in the system tower and restart the system.
Please post the results.
