Precision T5810 & Samsung 960 Pro SSD
So, I decided to replace the SATA III SSD that came with the system with a 960 Pro PCI-E SSD.
I went through all the tricks discussed in the forums to get around the Recovery DVDs inability to install onto a PCI-E SSD, used the MCE boot creator option, and successfully installed Windows 10 onto the drive.
Note that throughout this process, I was attempting to remove the included SATA III SSD from the system, but every time i removed it I received a boot failure stating no boot device was detected. I assumed once I had completely installed Windows 10 on the drive this would not be the case.
So, once the Windows 10 installation completed, i shut down the system and when I reboot it I once again received the boot failure error.
This error goes away if I leave the SATA III SSD in, and Windows 10 Boot Manager will detect the PCI-E SSD allowing me to select it as my boot disk. But if I remove the SATA III SSD, the system will not boot at all.
This is somewhat confusing, and I was hoping to get some input into what could be the issue.

You need to remove the original drive before you install Windows on the NVMe drive.

Is that really it? The reason I left it in in the first place was because I was getting boot device errors when removing it pre-install.
I'll try again, now that i have the Windows 10 MCE USB boot drive in addition to the Recovery DVD.
I hope it's that simple.
Do you know if SATA mode can be set to AHCI and not RAID? I'm reading conflicting reports on this point.
