We are experiencing this same issue with our T7610, using the integrated LSI-2308 controller.

In trying to install Solaris X86 10U-10 we can get the system to recognize the HDD under /c0/t (insert WWN number) instead of the classic c0/t0/d0/s0 format. This is causing a problem when loading into a ZFS file format install of the OS. It does not affect a UFS install.

We have tried everything from firmware and BIOS updates to modifying all the configurations between the BIOS, UEFI and the controller to see what format will allow the hardware to still recognize the software on the hard drive (while attached to the SAS controller) and keep loading.

We are talking to LSI, Dell and Oracle to see who has the issue.

I honestly think an update to the firmware that would allow a sata bypass mode to exist would fix the problem, seeing as the major shortfall of the Dell motherboard is it only has 2 onboard SATA connections.

We are having the same problem/issue with the Precision T7610 using the LSI-2308 Controller.  The end result we would like is to have 2 drives separate - not using the raid controller.  However, the CD Rom is taking up one of the sata drive connections.

Has anyone been successful in disabling the raid controller and then still seeing the drives when setup of windows needs to see them?

Currently, I have 2 blank drives (3TB ea.) and windows setup doesn't see the drives - but the raid controller loads fine through the setup.

What do I need to do to get the drives seen in windows?  Is there meta that needs to be removed?
