Printer Problems w/ Sharp AJ-5030

Been having problems with my printer not printing. The printer itself seems okay, it still receives faxes and makes copies just fine. But when i try to print something, from Microsoft Word per say, it gives me a communications error or one saying my printer is out of paper when that is not the case. I just changed my printer cable to no avail and was running out of ways to try to fix. Could you please help? Thanks soooo much.

jhguiller,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums. I apologize for your issues.

This may be related to the configuration of the port.  Does the port need to be ECP, EPP, or bi-directional?  You can make these changes in the system setup program.  When the system is booting press F2 to enter setup.  In the Peripherals submenu of the Advanced screen you should enable the port and set the mode to the mode required by this printer.  Hit F10 to save and exit.

Respectfully,

Hello,

I am also having problems connecting my AJ-5030.  Every time I try to print I get an offline communications error.  I am using the Dell Inspiron 6000 that I purchased about 1 month ago.  I am connecting via usb cable and the port is titled spusb1 and I have downloaded the  AJ-5030 XP driver, but I still can't print.  Please let me know if you can help.
