Hi Marquinator,

Welcome to the Dell community.

I understand that you are facing issues while installing the Ethernet drivers on your Dell system, Inspiron 580. I do understand your concern and would personally look into the matter and resolve it to the best of your satisfaction.

As you are getting issues while installing the Ethernet drivers, therefore, I would advise you to kindly follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Step 1: The compatible Ethernet driver can be downloaded using the link mentioned below:

http://dell.to/M0OfSU

Step 2: Kindly follow the steps mentioned below to install the driver on your system:

Installation Instructions

Hard Drive Installation (via WinZip) with Setup.exe File for R250303.EXE

Download

1. Click Download Now, to download the file.

2. When the File Download window appears, click Save this program to disk and click OK. The   Save In: window   appears.

3. From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.

4. If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file icon appears on your desktop.

Install

1. Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R250303.EXE.

2. The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to  C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R250303. Write down this path so the executable (I.e. Setup.exe) file can be found later.

3. The Self-Extractor window appears.

4. Click OK.

5. After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it.

6. Click the Start button and then click Run.

7. Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R250303 in the Open textbox and then click OK.

8. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Thanks,

Abhishek

Did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after installing Win 7?

If not, other drivers, like the network driver may not install or may not work....

I think this must be the problem. I'm gonna check it.

Thanks again :D

I installed the chipset drivers and I'm still having the same problem with the installation.

What version of BIOS is installed on this system?

Did you install both chipsets, H57 and AMT HECI?

I installed the last BIOS drivers and also the only two Chipset drivers but InstallShield Wizard is still not working.

What should I do?

If you're getting an error InstallShield error message, post the exact message here.

Are you trying to run the driver installation from your pen drive? Try copying to the file onto the desktop on the 580 and run the install from the desktop.

You should also download the network driver file again from the Dell site. This time be sure to use the Browser option, NOT the Download Manager option to download the file. Copy the new download onto the 580 desktop and try again.

Hello, i have the exact same problem.

I have tried everything in this thread but it did not work.

1. Installed all the chipset drivers and BIOS drivers

2. Installed .NET framework 4.0 and trying out some things after i read somewhere that this could be the issue.

Now im lost again, dont know what to do or try next, it seems to not want to install. It just says the installation wizard has been interrupted before it could complete.

Any help?

I found the working fix.

The fix I finally discovered was Dell Driver pack number R296613.

You download this

And then you extract the files into a folder somewhere. After that you manually direct your ethernet controller to look for the drivers in the windows 7-x64 directory.

This worked for me and i hope it works for you

Always include the version of WIndows in your posts!

Did you install the two Intet chipset drivers as the first drivers after installing Windows? Without the chipset drivers, the ethernet driver either won't install or won't work correctly.

Did you install the correct ethernet driver for your system? There are drivers for this system for Centrino wireless, bluetooth, Fast Ethernet, etc. You need to know exactly what hardware you have so you can install the correct ethernet driver. You can try looking for the drivers using your Service Tag number at the support site. (Do NOT post Service Tag number here!)

I know that the link previously given does not seem to work or they remove the driver. I had the same issue on my Inspiron 580S with the network Driver on Win7 professional 64 bit. I looked up R296613 and I found another dell link where the driver is available. After you download and extract to your desktop, install manually from computer management and voila. ! it works .

Here is the link:  http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/driverdetails?driverid=YMHGV

Hope it helps others.

That driver does not work. I continue to have network issues due to this R250303 driver problem following my reinstallation of the Dell system files to my Windows 7 operating system just after replacing my hard drive. The "Needs Troubleshooting" symbol stays present on my Ethernet box.

My desktop system now shuts down without cause, and I won't call Customer Service because your customer service is about making a dime rather than servicing people. And I have made a vow to never purchase another Dell system as long as I live and that is sad because up until now all of them came from Dell.
