Problem with my new 8400
OK I got this computer like about a week ago and I've already managed to screw it up. So here's the deal. I'm a big video gamer and for some reason some of my games keep crashing on me and giving me some weird errors. So I did a diagnostics test from the resource CD like it said in the manual. When I did it came up with an error code which I wrote down:
Error Code: 2F00:0B1C memory data bus stress test failure
So I think, well isn't that just helpful. (I'm no computer wiz) So I try the test again for some unknown reason. And another error showed up, but this time it was different. It looked like this:
Error Code: 2F2F:01BC memory data bus stress test failure
Just awesome. I'm afraid to do it a third time thinking that a new error might happen. So now I try the System Restore. SOme more good news. This blue screen shows up. It says:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA then it has some text on what to do but I really don't understand it and below that it says:
stop: 00000050 (0xF963E62B, 0X00000000, 0x8054B13D, 0x00000000)
Then something about a pyshical memory dump.
This only way to get rid of this screen was to restart it. So I did. Now here I am, hoping someone knows what to do. Any help at all would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

See your system documentation for instructions on running the Dell Diagnostics to check for hardware problems. The manuals for that system aren't available online yet, so you're going to have to look this up locally. It's usually under a manual section called "Solving Problems" in the User Guide/Owner's Manual, though.
If you're not especially computer literate, you may also want to call Support by phone and have them walk you through the diagnostics tests.

Matt it sounds like you have one or more bad sticks of memory.
The reason you are getting different error messages is that most likely the memory is bad and its failing at different memory access points.
Run the full Dell Diagnostics disc again, should take about 40mins to 1 hour to run, note any errors which appear and then call Dell. They should be able to take care of it from there.

I have the exact same issues. I just received my 8400 and Im getting BSOD erratically and when I suggested to tech support it could be my memory. I ran memory test and received 2F00:0B1C MEMORY DATA DATA BUS STRESS TEST FAILURE. I ran same test again and received 2f2f:0b1c data bus stress test failure. I have currently been on phone with the dispatch management center for 45 minutes. I am STILL ON HOLD. Is there a faster process to receive new memory? I don't know how much longer I can listen to the horrendous music and the constant badgering from the lady telling me about how to fix the problem. Is memory definately the problem? I want to "try" to have everything fixed so I dont have to speak to them anytime soon.
Its currently hitting 1 hr and I still am on hold. My cordless phone is about to die on me =( Im gonna keep this email open till I finally get someone on the phone to speak to. Maybe all the 8400s sent out in the recent promos have this problem and they have a ton of ppl calling.
took hour and a half. we'll see if the issue gets fixed

My new Dell 8400 is dispalying the same problems and giving me the error mess age
"2F00:0BIC MEMORY DATA DAT BUS STRESS TEST FAILURE"
Dell have told me it is caused by everything from drivers, to reinstalling the operating system but all have failed and i am still getting the error message and still getting blue screens and random problems with applications etc.
Dell have replaced motherboard with a refurbished one and sitll have same errors and error message.
After hours of pleading with dell they have agreed to send some new memory modules to try and fix the problem. Still waiting .............
I have noticed that there are many other posts indicating the same error message and problems as mine - however no one seems to have had a cure yet.
Dell must have there heads in the sand with so many of the same errors the good folks at dell in India dont seem to have heard of this problem before - has anyone had a Fix for it yet -- is it RAM or MEMORY or CPU ?????????
I have lost patience with this and the untold hours of testing and retrying things for dell and still not having a fix...
