Processor upgrade

hi everyone,

I am thinking in upgrading my current processor, but I was wondering if someone could help me to decide my best option.

I am down to 6 processors. Is any of these the best for my system or is there even a better option? I am looking to get a processor as fast and powerfull as my system can handle!. thank you for your help.

Option #1: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6700 (8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

Option #2: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

Option #3: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E7400 (3M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

Option #4: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E7200 (3M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

Option #5: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6700 (4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

Option #6: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4600 (2M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

You should check with Dell on whether you can upgrade to ANY of those processors if you're looking to update the Dimension 9200 for which you've given specs in your post.

I don't own a Dell PC with a first generation Pentium D, but I DO own an HP with a similar configuration and the voltage requirements for an HP Pentium D motherboard of that generation would fry a Core-based processor. And, HP is very clear about that.

It is possible that Dell's motherboard has a regulator to lower the voltage, but I seriously doubt it. Don't be seduced by the fact that both the Pentium D and Core 2 processors use the 775 socket.
