Thanks for your feedback. My DELL Dimension 8200 was purchased in September 2001. Your reply states that the memory cards
must have a 45ns rating. I do not know what the 45ns rating means or how to check it on the card sent. The cards DELL sent me has ELPIDA
EBR25EC8ABFD-8C, 0510SXC0093, 256MB/8d ECC, 800-40, G100 S110 typed on the label. Does the 800-40 mean it has a 40ns rating? If it does then it appears DELL sent me the wrong cards.
I tried replacing the 128MB cards in the 1 & 2 slots with the upgrade 256MB cards but no luck.

Please reply.
"Must" is incorrect, the info is from before 40ns memory existed. 45 or faster works fine, you have faster.
Dell sent you the wrong memory, as they often do for a Dimension 8200. Return it, get a refund, and order the proper memory via the Samsung part numbers on my site or found all over the forum.
I originally tried to install DELL memory cards but they seemed to be incompatible. I could not boot. I have sense purchased a pair of 256mb/8 memory modules from Samsung: Model #MR16R1628EGO CM8 800-40 01. I removed the 128mb cards and replaced them with the upgraded memory. I am sure they were seated properly. I am still unable to boot in XP. Are the cards I purchased the correct cards? Any suggestions.
