Re: Dimension 1100 CPU

I have a Dell Dimension 1100 with a Celeron 2.6.  I want to upgrade to a Pentium 4  3.2.  Will the following CPU work on my mother board?  Intel Pentium4 3.2 3.2E 3.2GHz 1MB/800 Prescott 478 CPU  I'm getting confused on the different socket types for the 478 pin.  Will any 478 pin Pentium work or do I need a certain one?  Any help you could give would be greatly welcomed.

Bob_1952,

The fastest we validated is: Dell part #HJ651 Prescott P4 Kit, 2.8Ghz, 533FSB, 1M, Socket-N, G1

No idea, we never tested that one. Prescott, correct.

Chris M,

Does that mean it MIGHT work?  I do need a "Prescott" CPU for that board right?
