Reinstall Windows Calendar
Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron 530S and the Drivers and Utilities disk that came with it.
Do the Utilities include the Windows Calendar?
I would like to reinstall it. The reminder feature is only working when I open the calendar.
When it executes via Event Scheduler it does not report remiders.
Thanks
Frank C

Hi Frank,
Please share the Operating system installed.
Dell drivers and utilities disc does not have the Windows calender. You may use Windows Live programs for your computer and online services that work together. For more information on this, you may refer to link: http://bit.ly/XYXhSV
If you have Windows 7 or Vista installed and looking for Windows calender gadget, you may follow the steps below:
Click the 'Restore desktop gadgets installed with Windows' button as highlighted in the second image. (See screenshot below)
This will bring up the Desktop Gadgets window with a message stating 'All Windows and administrator installed gadgets have been restored'
When finished, just close the Desktop Gadgets and Control Panel windows.
If you have Windows 8 installed on your computer, you may check the link: http://bit.ly/XZifUK
Please reply for further clarifications.

Thanks for the reply Chinmay S,
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2.
I don't think the Gadget calendar is what I want. I want to get reminders at any time, even if I am not logged on.
That is why liked Windows Calendar. Is there a download source for it?
Thanks

Hi,
I wanted to reinstall because of reminders.
Now, I have finally resolved my problem of not getting Windows Calendar reminders via task Scheduler.
I did get them if I opened Calendar.
First, I tried the process outlined here:
Help with Windows Calendar by Mary K on April 19, 2010
answers.microsoft.com/.../help-with-windows-
calendar/cbbde5e9-647b-464c-ac82-f265b04c1c0e
It did remove the Task Scheduler (local) and Task Scheduler Library calendar entries but unfortunately these entries were not recreated when I opened Windows Calendar. However, I do think this is a necessary step .
I decided to recreate both the (Local and Library) Task Schedule entries manually.
At the Action step where you browse for the executable, the path for WinCal.exe is put in quotes because it has embedded blanks. There was a report of Task Scheduler having a parsing problem if the path was in quotes.
support.microsoft.com/.../951246
Although this was not reported as a problem in Vista. I checked my wife's computer where calendar was working and her path to the program was not in quotes. Simply removing the quotes did not work, it resulted in an incorrect path.
The solution was to put the
WinCal.exe
on the program/script line,
put the path with no quotes:
C:\Program files\Windows Calendar\
on the Start in (optional) line and
put the argument
/reminder
on the Add arguments (optional) line
I also set the trigger for both the Reminder and Calendar Tasks to be at logon, Repeat task every five minutes indefinitely
I will probably change this to one hour in the near future,
Regards
