If you installed all the other drivers but neglected the chipset, download it on another PC and transfer it to the desktop of the 8250. Reboot the 8250 in Safe Mode (F8 before XP starts to load). Double-click on the chipset file and when it's finished, reboot normally.
I decided to go through the entire process again and during windows set up the following error appeared: The file dpti2o.sys is corrupted. Press any key to continue.
That's a Windows file. Did you (you should) reformat (wipe) the hard drive before starting the install over again? Could be hard drive problem or maybe a dirty/scratched Reinstallation CD.
Boot from the XP CD and reformat the hard drive. Then reboot again from the CD and press R at the first screen to launch Recovery Console.
At the C: prompt type in: chkdsk c: /p /r
Press Enter
Go take a nice long nap while chkdsk checks the hard drive for bad sectors and locks them out. If it locks out a lot of them, you may be having a hard drive failure...
Once chkdsk is done, reboot from the XP CD again, and start the Windows over again.

Did you install the chipset driver as the first driver loaded after installing Windows?
Did you install the correct audio driver, ethernet driver, modem driver, etc?
All the drivers for the 8250 are here.

hello, i have a Dell OptiPlex GX240.
and I was getting the same error code when trying to bootup, or repair Windows XP....
and it turned out to be a Failed Memory card...
after replacing mem card, everthing was functioning normally.
Good luck folks.
