Resolving host

Hi,

I have a new XPS 8920 and whenever I use Google Chrome I regularly get web pages failing to load. The status message says Resolving Host. After mins or so, the internet works ok again.  Viewing and using the internet on my iPad or Android phone are both fine with no issues. All machines are connected on the same wifi network.

Any ideas as to what is causing the issue on my Dell machine?

Thanks

Michael

You may have a malware that is trying to hijack where you go.

Can you use another browser and successfully go where you want?   IE or Firefox??

You might also try statically setting your DNS setting to OpenDNS (or whoever else you trust) to force it to use a reliable source.   Or also uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome to see if that makes a difference.

I also have this issue. I just set up a new XPS 8920, and I'm having the same issue of Resolving Host.

Web site that would either fail to load or would take a few minutes. It would do the same when I use Microsoft Edge.

Sometimes, the browser would just freeze and crash.

Then after about 5 minutes later, it would work and be able to load the same web page that would cause the Resolving Host issue. But then again, the Resolving Host issue would happen again on the same web page with the same browser.

My internet connection is just fine and get about 150 Mps. I've never experienced with my smartphone and laptop on the same home wifi.

Any idea?

Read this:

Chrome is using Google's DNS server but if you're running other browsers on the other devices, they're probably using a  different DNS server.

Don't know if Chrome forces you to use Google's DNS server, but if the fix at that page doesn't help, you could try switching to the DNS server used by another device on you network in the Windows internet setup on the XPS.
