Running two virus programs

Hi All
I currently have Norton and McAfee virus protection installed on my computer, running simultaneously. I tried to uninstall McAfee, but that little red "M" is still there. Will having both programs installed and running harm my computer?? How can I totally get rid of McAfee. I prefer Norton
thanks

beauti4ulone,

Virus programs do not coexist well. They tend to conflict with one another and thus fail to provide good protection. See if this information helps you get rid of McAfee.

followed your instructions...didn't remove McAfee. When I clicked on McAfee in  add/remove programs, it stated I need to uninstall McAfee services first??

I tried delete misc files, but when i searched there was no file: MCKRNL.VXD?

what now???

OK

I deleted every folder, file and anything else that look like McAfee. I think it's all gone. But how can I be absolutely sure? It's not under add/remove programs anymore

thanks

norton is not a good program overall i'd say. It hogs your ram. configuring it is a royal pain. Although it does work well.... but i have Mcaffe V shield which works great... Zone alarm's firewall ...awesome.... ad-ware and ad-watch and microsoft antispyware for adware and spyware. No virus has penetrated my computer defenses..... since ive had all of these programs..
