SC Card Reader

Hi

I purchased my Inspiron 580 back in 2011. Never had any problems with it, but yesterday I went to use the SD card reader for the first time, and it wont read the card. The light comes on in the internal reader, but it is as if the drivers are missing, and for the life of me, I cannot find the drivers on any site. I think the reader is the Dell Inspiron 580s Slim Case 19-in-1 Media Card Reader Smartcard 82CF5

Can someone please help me here??????? and in really to understand terms as well :-)

So fixed the problem

Needed to manually assign drive letters to the 4 drives

Open computer management

Click disk management

You will then see the drives that have no letters assigned, in my case I have 4 slots, so I right clicked each slot, selected add a drive letter, and bingo, all 4 drives are there

Hi tonydav50,

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.

Try some other sd cards if possible. The card might be damaged or in an incompatible format. That can happen with a old sd card. Try the card in another computer or camera to test.

Hi

Tried the following 3 cards, 2 of which I know work

Micro HG 16Gb

2Gb Memory Stick Pro Duo(Works in the camera)

1Gb Memory Stick Pro Duo (works in the camera)

Just treid the 16gb in my TV, and it works

Thing is, when you put the cards in the computer reader. the light comes on
