SMBIOS tool - command prompt identification

This is a very nice little free IBMtool i came across.

It lets you identify a machine from the command prompt... and way more.
It's designed for SMBios compliancy testing but can be used for other
purposes too.... as Microsoft does in SMS server 2.0.

2 versions : smbios.exe and smbios2.exe.
Try /h for help : here is a nice piece of Microsoft documentation in HTML
or DOC version.

Give smbios /G > smbios.txt a try and you will find loads of useful info.
A lot of hardware is displayed too.

Part of mine, just snips out of the file :

Manufacturer:         'Dell Computer Corporation'
Product Name:       'Latitude D600                   '
Serial Number:       'xxxxxxxxx'
BIOS Vendor:         'Dell Computer Corporation'
BIOS Version:        'A14'

Maybe others know of similar tools, but this one is new to me and too good to keep to myself :-)

A nice one to use in scripts, or batchfiles...
Handy for those that wish to create a bootable CD to flash the bios ?
My buddy asked for a solution and i am happy i found this tool....
Using the dos command FIND you can easily filter out the manufacturer, type of machine and bios version.
With that info, the cd could handle all Dell machines from recognition to bios flash...

Use DCCU to create a custom bios with all your favourite settings and you've got yourself a nice bootcd...
