STString.dll ERROR - How to fix!!! (windows 7)

At some point you may experience the infamous STString.dll Error. In large part this post addresses this issue with Dell configured PCs loaded with Dell Data Safe software which is the culprit of this nefarious issue. The fix described will allow you to regain control of your PC and tame that pesky STString.dll error. If you go to your MYCOMPUTER and open up the C: drive folder, scroll down till you see C:/program files (x86). Open this folder and locate the Dell Data Safe Local Backup folder. Notice you will see a COMPONENTS folder, open it and then scroll down and open up the SCHEDULER folder and create another folder inside it called "STSTRING FIX". This folder will be a backup for files that we may need to reuse again, its always good to have it so we dont have to go and hunt for them.

Listed is the directory structure you will be working with, it is only listed for clarity!

C:\program files (x86)

C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup [this folder contains the files needed to fix the problem]

C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components

C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components\Scheduler   [this folder will contain the files we will place to fix our problem]

C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components\Scheduler\STSTRING FIX   [this folder will contain a backup of the files for future use]

 

Now go back to the root directory of the Dell Data Safe Local Backup folder

C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup and select the listed files, there are 13 total:

 CSTError.dll

libxml2.dll

ST_Log

STFiles.dll

ST_Log.dll

STNLS.dll

STPE.dll

STRegistry.dll

STString.dll

STStringArray.dll

STSystems.dll

STXml.dll

zlib1.dll

Copy these files to this folder C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components\Scheduler

Place a copy of these same files to this folder C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components\Scheduler\STSTRING FIX 

If for some reason in the future your pc freaks out on this issue again, you can navigate to the STSTRING FIX folder and recopy the files back to

 C:\program files (x86)\Dell Data Safe Local Backup\Components\Scheduler

Now, reboot your pc and rock on!
