Scratch Disks

When I go into photoshop & try to open a file I get the message can't open file name - scratch disks are full. What do I do?

Go into preferences and increase the capacity of the scratch disks. These are temporary memory storage and use some of your HD. Add at least a gigabyte to scratch disk #1. Also remove any unneeded items that are in memory on the Adobe desktop.
