Sound control with HDMI input
Hi,
I have an Inspiron One 2305 and I am using the HDMI input to play my TV on it as well. When I select the HDMI as my source for the signal, I get the TV image ok and the sound is also playing but, I have the following problems:
- I cannot control the volume
- I have some external speakers connected but the sound is played in the desktop integrated speaker instead.
When I am using the PC in the normal way, I get the sound correclty played through the external speakers.
How can I get the sound to be played through my external speakers ?
Thank you
Philippe

When you use HDMI, the PC's sound "card" is not used, thus you can't control the volume from the PC. You have to control the volume level from the device it's connected to. The HDMI is digital, not analog like it is in the PC's sound card.
Also, when you use the HDMI, it becomes the default audio playback device and thus speakers connected to the PC's audio out are disabled. You can't have both as default playback devices, either HDMI or Speakers (regular PC audio).
