I believe that you will find that you have software for both Creative Recorder [CTREC.exe] and Creative Wave Studio [CTWAVE32.exe] in your C:\Program Files\Creative folder.
What is so difficult about getting what would seem to me the customer a simple answer regarding a device Dell installed? I have now wasted much of my morning on hold and dealing with Dell representatives with poor communications skills and I still have no resolution to my problem.

You must realise that Dell did not install your external tape player so your question to them was really outside the scope of their resppnsibilty and probably of their knowledge. The link you have just been given is an excellent one, but there are many others that a simple Internet search would have provided.
Furthermore, this is a Dell user Forum and none of us can "get a Dell service technician (competent or otherwise) to contact you"
