Soundmax Audio Recording Features

I have a new Optiplex 745, Win XP2, no available PCI slots (it's a compact unit). This PC was given to me without a utilities CD. Nice PC, but access to advanced audio features stinks. Anyway, I have a Soundmax Integrated digital HD audio "sound card." How do I access the Audio Wizard to set up Preferences for "recording device" options. Currently, the "Master Volume/Properties/Recording" shows "volume controls" for only "Microphone" and "Line in." How do I force this sound card to include the following recording controls: Aux, Mono out, Wave out? I want to record streaming audio and the current setup (Microphone and Line in) options do not allow me to record streaming audio. Will try most anything. Thanks.

Usually lower end sound chips do not have those features, I use this software for recording streams, it installs it's own sound driver to get the job done.

When the volume control is open, under options, select properties. There's checklists for what you want to control. If you're talking about any "features" beyond that, OEMs don't have any of that extra stuff in their drivers for the onboard SoundMax. I found that out the hard way when I gave up my old sound card with my old system thinking the onboard would be fine. If you're an audio person doing recording and the likes, you should probably be using more than onboard though.

Bobman101, thanks for the tip. However, I already tried that per my description of the problem. I am unable to check off the features I mentioned because they are missing, the only two options are "Microphone" and "Line In." Mombodog, do you know of another software that has similar features as the one you suggested but that's free?

Audacity is a nice program, but I am not sure if it enables any features like TSR.
