Stop installation in progress? Stalled.

I keep getting a message that I have an installation in progress, although I don't know what it is or where to find it.

I cannot download anything new or even open ITunes because it is stuck.

Anyone know where to look to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:

First of all... when you're looking for help, it's important to mention what system you have, and what OS are you using?

Did this error message start after you installed new software?

I think the first thing you should try, is a System Restore, to the last date your system was known to be working?

I have a dell xp, 2006.  Not sure, but I think I was downloading something from internet, and since then gives me that message. But I could be wrong.  I did buy Dell package for maintenance and that installed ok, but sometime after that everything went wrong.  How I initally discovered the problem was when I was trying to download adobe reader to be able to use clip n ship from postal service.  now anything I try, even techincal help will not install, giving installation in progress, please complete. I will try a system restore.  I have limited techincal knowlege so this is getting above my head.
