Studio 540 front panel FireWire pinout
I recently installed a new motherboard in my Studio 540 (Intel Desktop Board DP55WB). After converting the power switch/power LED/HDD LED from the proprietary Dell pinout to a standard ATX pinout, all is well. However the machine won't power up when I have the front panel FIreWire connected. I'm wondering if this might be because Dell have used a proprietary pinout for it, if so, has anyone figured it out? Thanks in advance.

The Studio 540 mainboard may or may not be an OEM variant of a generic product. Typically the headers (apart from the front panel) will be standard, but in this case there seems to be an issue.
A possible remedy is to use a continuity tester (obtainable from an auto parts store) to determine if the pin assignments are standard. If not, you can rearrange the wires on the Firewire connector to suit.
