Studio XPS 8100 - Processor Options?
Ok, so I know this is a 6-year old system, but it's been working great. I've replaced hard drives and upgraded the Video Card.
What I am having trouble finding out is, what processors are compatible with the motherboard?
Mine came with an i7-870. It would be nice to know what models of other i7's or even i5's can be dropped in and work?

Only the first generation Core i CPUs will work. You're close to the top of the list of those CPUs (while there's an i7-880, it's not enough faster to warrant an upgrade). An i5 would be a step down from what you have.
Translation: any CPU upgrade other than a very slight boost to an i7-880 would require a new system.
