System Freezing while in Photoshop (no other application)
I'm on an older Precision 450:
System Info:
2.5G RAM
Windows XP Pro
ATI Fire GL X1 AGP Dual DVI Video Card (a refurbished card provided by dell when original card fan failed)
About two weeks ago while working on Photoshop CS1 my system began to Freeze up. Screens went "Black" and all other apps running seemed to halt - reaching this conclusion because with audio (if running) stops too. The only way to escape is a hard boot.
No significant changes have been made to my system recently, no software additions, no config changes; however, several weeks ago I did experience, while booting up my machine, the kind of digital noise (visual artifacts on my monitors) that occurred when my original card failed. This has not occurred again recently and I do not experience any trouble while in other applications.
Because it didn't continue I wrote it off as an anomaly.
Steps taken to resolve:
1. Complete manual uninstall of PS, and, after re-install, when problem persisted, a complete uninstall of the entire Creative Suite.
2. Upgrade to CS3 (problem still persists)
4. Upgraded Video Card Driver on recommendation from Adobe (problem still persists)
When viewing my Event log there are no application errors associated with occurrence but there are two "System" errors that occurs each time.
1. The Atmehrumrv service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
2. The Rasddeagwea service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
A Google each on those two error messages turns up absolutely no results. But for some reason the Adobe representative seemed to think these were associated with my Video Card. His assessment was also that the amount of memory on the card was probably insufficient at 128MB.
Wondering if anyone might have some insight. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks

It is most likely the user profile for the Adobe Suite.
Log off and log back in as another user of the PC and see if problem persists. We had a similar issue and darned if I can't find the filename extension. But, please log in to the same PC as another user and try PhotoShop. If problem is gone, I will keep looking through our Help Desk software for the file extension that your Adobe profile is under. Once you delete it and launch again, PhotoShop should work for you again.
Please post the results.
