System battery voltage low

I need some help with this. I have a dell optiplex 755. When I start my computer and it comes up with the following message. Alert! System battery voltage is low. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics. When I press F1 it comes up with Windows Error Recovery Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settings and then click "Next" 3. Click "repair your computer" Other options: If the power was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally. (use the arrow keys to highlight your choice) safe mode Safe mode with networking Safe mode with command prompt Last known good configuration (advanced) Start windows normally I don't have the installation disk so I can't do that and when I choose any of the other options the pc just restarts. I tried changing the battery on the motherboard for another brand new one like it and it still does the same. What can I do to fix this? Does anyone know or can anyone help?

Hi kathrynewbie,

Thanks for posting your query. Replacing the CMOS coin cell battery should have resolved this issue. Please ensure you are using a 3-V CR2032 lithium battery. Dell Part for the CMOS battery is KU144.

Please read through this link which has few suggested answers by our community Rock stars: http://dell.to/1aHrFgl

Load BIOS to defaults and check if that helps.

Run hardware diagnostics and make a note of any error messages or codes. To run diagnostics, start system and press F12 on the Dell logo screen. From the One Time Boot Menu, select the option 'Diagnostics'

Also check in BIOS set up and ensure hard drive is listed as First boot device.

I've tried everything you suggested and everything post suggested but I still get the same thing happening. It gives me the alert I press F1 it gives me windows error recovery I select an option and the PC restarts. Is there anything else you suggest?

After completing diagnostics this message appears Pre-boot System Assessment complete. No diagnostic utility identified. Please select ok to reboot your system. In the BIOS on boot sequence I have the following: 1. SATA0-ST3808110AS 2. Onboard SATA Hard Drive (not present) 3. Onboard or USB Floppy Drive (not present) 4. Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive As far as I'm aware SATA0-ST3808110AS is my hard drive. I no longer get the battery message it just goes straight to the windows error recovery now I select an option it restarts again. Any further help would be great.

If you have the windows installation disc, we can do a start up repair using the disc to resolve this issue. Check if you are able to boot the system in safe mode.

My father has resolved the problem. Brand new duracell battery installed. Turns out the hardrive is corrupt which he's going to get the important stuff off it, install a new hardrive and new OS. Thanks for trying to help though.

kathrynewbie, that’s good that your problem has been resolved but I just want to know the reason of this problem, is it a faulty battery? Because it seems that something is getting short circuit that causes the system to restart and damage the battery and hard drive.
