Read page 41 here for allowed RAM configurations. Be sure to check slot numbering printed on the motherboard because they may not be physically in logical numerical order. :emotion-5:

After you get the modules in the right slots in an allowed configuration, clear BIOS by powering off, unplugging and removing the motherboard battery. Then press/hold power button for ~30 sec before reinstalling the battery.

I suppose it could be an issue with the replacement motherboard, so maybe you should contact the seller.

EDIT: The links are messed up in this new forum upgrade, so look here: ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dell_precision_workstation/precision-t3500_Service%20Manual_en-us.pdf

Hi. I owned the T3500 and currently own the T5500.

Yes it does support the i7 920. Get the Intel Xeon W3520 instead. It's virtually the same processor at a 1/4 of the price of the i7 920. You can find them for $15 or less on ebay. Make sure you have the U016F heatsink for any quad core processor you may install on this thing. The T021F heatsink is a joke and it can overheat your PC. Throw it away

While you're at it. Ditch the T3500 altogether and get yourself a thinkstation s20, or hp z400 (same chipset as the T3500). These dell machines, specifically the (T3500/T5500/T7500) line, are awful. The design is terrible in all 3 models. It impacts performance a great deal. I had been a loyal Dell user until I bought these machines. I hope you have better luck.
