T5500 2 CPU system EXPERTS?
Hello, I ordered a T5500 with 2 CUP's and wanting to do a few upgrades. It currently has the E5620 CPU's and purchased 2 of the E5677's. I understand there is a "performance" copper cooler for these systems that I may need to make sure it's cooled properly. From what I understand these systems had two different motherboards, an earlier model that took E5500 series CPU's and this one I have that takes the E5600 series.
Here's my question, (system on the way still in transit)- so wondering if anyone knows if this might already have the "performance" copper CPU coolers already as stock on this motherboard? I assume this has the later model 0CRH6C board because of the 5600 CPU"s currently installed.
I can just wait for it to get here, but thought i would see if this might have a chance of being answered by any of the T5500 experts. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any replies. JH

Hi JH.
The performance heat sink you are referring has a Dell part number of U016F. You should be able to pick one up on ebay if needed.Usually there are good value one available in the US, but are a little more expensive in Europe. I have installed x5600 CPUs on both the old motherboard (D883F) and the newer CRH6C. The trick with the older board is to install an up to date BIOS - the latest A16 worked for me, although if you have a RAID setup, some people hit issues after A11.
You might find this hardware monitor software useful for measuring CPU temperatures. For lots more discussion see http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19370823?pi21953=1.
The topic title is T7500, but in fact it's is in relation to T5500. Go to page 2 and you'll see a table of processor temperatures that you might like to compare your machine against.
