T7500 RAM configuration
My department just recieved several T7500's. I'm unfamiliar with the 2nd CPU and Memory Bank. If I'm only trying to use 8-16 GB's of RAM do I need to use the secondary riser memory slots or should I simply install 2-4GB cards across the standard MB slots? I read that I'm supposed to use as many channels as possible but will spreding them accross both DIMM boards actually help speed?
We are running numerous Autodesk products but only one at a time. Will the 2nd processor help in that scenario or do we just have more computing power than we need? They were hand me down PC's so we didn't spend more than we required.
I have a lot of 2GB cards and just need to know the most efficient way to install them for 8-16 GB's total.
If the department allows me to purchase more RAM could you recomend the most efficient way to load cards to reach 32GB?

Yours is 3rd post on this exact topic in last week or so... :emotion-3:
Read the manual about acceptable RAM configs when you have dual CPUs and the riser. Pay close attention to the table on page 17, and note that 16 GB does not appear to be a supported config with dual CPUs.
If you plan to buy RAM, also note that most of the supported configs with dual CPUs, require DR (dual rank) DDR3 RAM. You can find dual (and quad) rank RAM for this system at crucial.com, for example.
The manual also says, for dual CPUs:
If configuration contains DIMMs of mixed sizes, populate the larger DIMMs in the dual-processor riser.
But if you look at the table on p17, that's not what they show for 8 or 128 GB, so they violated their own rule! DOH!
I told both other users to install the RAM symmetrically, with the larger modules in the lower numbered slots on both motherboard and riser, and follow those with smaller modules in matching slot numbers on motherboard and riser, such as shown in the table for 8 GB. There haven't been any complaints about RAM issues...
