The problem is that when the line cursor disappears, I can not type anymore until the cursor pops back up, or I move the arrow over to the location where I was typing and click it. So, when I am typing and not looking at the screen, it would be a waste of time, because nothing was typed since the cursor disappeared.
It has been doing this for the last 6 months. I am using Windows XP. I played with the mouse settings in the control panel with no success. My keyboard is wired to the computer with a usb connector. I might have to switch to my Vista computer if this keeps going on. By the way, my line cursor disappeared 3 times while typing this message.
This is the way the programming was designed so that the mouse doesn't get in the way of your view of what you are trying to type. You should be able to turn off this function if it bothers you. Otherwise, don't worry about it. :smileyhappy:
You should be able to turn that function off in the control panel in your mouse settings, I believe.
I just closed all my open applications, and I went to Notepad and kept typing and I had no disappearing characters, and the line cursor kept going. I typed at least 10 lines of words.
It has been disappearing in Outlook, all my word softwares, online typing, in this forum typing. So, if I have a application open while using another application, maybe there is a problem doing that. I guess I will have to test it by leaving only the application that I am using open. Thanks, I will check it out unless you suggest something else.
The line cursor seems to disappear on all the applications in my computer for a few seconds, then I can not type until it comes back, or if I move the arrow over the location and click it. It seems to be common to the whole computer.

Close all open applications. Open Notepad and start typing. Does the cursor disappear? In what specific software is it disappearing?
