UDF 2.50 file system incompatible with this [blu ray BD-R] disc

Question

I have a new (June of 2009) Studio desktop - Everything about it is just what I wanted, down to the blu-ray burner drive. Only, I can't burn a blu-ray disc! I bought a Sony BD-R 25Gig disc at Wal-Mart for $15 and when I put it in the drive and attempt to do anything with it, I get an error: UDF 2.50 file system incompatible with this [blu ray BD-R] disc. Does anyone know what this means (and more importantly, how to make it work)? I'm not sure if it is an issue with the disc, the burning software (I've tried the Roxio that came with the PC and the Sony Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software that came with my HDR-SR11 high-def cam-corder with the same result). Or maybe it is a driver or other software or hardware issue? Another semi-related question: The Roxio software says right in the start-up screen that it does blu-ray. The help menu tells me to go into the options and select blu-ray from a drop-down menu, but it is not there. Is there a chance that Dell has given me (us) a restricted/limited version of Roxio? I would think coming with a blu-ray capable PC, they would give me software that would work. Thoughts on that one? Thanks! Rich

The UDF refers to 'packet writing' and in newer Roxio software that is the 'drag to disc' function.  Looking at that error with a google search it seems UDF 2.50 is not compatible with Blu-Ray.  Disable the drag to disc (or whatever packet writing program you have) and then see if you can burn the disc.
