USB-Controller Driver for Windows 2000

Hey there,

I just bought a Dimension 4500 system and changed the OS from Windows XP to Windows 2000. No I have the problem, that my USB-Controller does not get installed properly, even though I already installed the system drivers (Intel 800 Series Integrated Chipset REV: A06).

Anybody has a hint how to solve this problem, or anybody knows, where to find the right drivers???

Thanx in advance!

since you have usb 2.0 this requires 3 drivers:
1)chipset-you have allready installed
2)install usb drivers
3) run windows update to get the 2.0 usb drivers

Yeah this is an article I also already read, but the thing is, that the drivers on my cd are only for Win XP, but I use Win 2000. So does anybody has a clue where to get these drivers for Win2k???

Go to Windows Update. Select Windows Catalog. Then Find Hardware Drivers. Then select Other Hardware. Then select Microsoft and Windows 2000 family. The USB driver listed there is a 2.0 driver. Actually if you run the Scan Now on regular Windows Update it SHOULD show up, but may not; so I gave you the sequence you need if it doesn't.

I know this was months back but I can't seem to get a resolution on this annoyance. I went to the Windows Update site and followed the instructions per your reply to the last user and found that it requires that you give a manufacturer name. On the resource CD for the 4500, the XP driver is for an Intel device but the download for this device from the Windows Update site does not work. Anymore suggestions as to where I can find this beast? Any help is appreciated at this point!

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,
Try the USB 2.0 drivers here. Type driver for username and all for password.
