USB Driver (usbsror.sys file missing)

I have Dell Dimensions 4500s. I am unable to connect my digital camera olympus D-395 to my dell computer using USB cable. After talking to tech support at Olymus , I figured that the usbstor.sys file is missing. Where can I find this file to download? any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ajay

Are you sure it's "missing".  Do a search  (Click Start then Search) for usbstor.sys and see if it really is missing.  My system has 3 copies of that file in different folders.

Some camera models are not 100% Windows XP compatible and when you connect it, it will connect but the Windows Camera and Scanner Wizard will not come up, you have to manually copy pictures to the hard drive using the Windows Explorer and the Camedia program will not "see" the camera either.  Have you tried that?  I have an Olympus C3020 and I have to do that because it's not Windows XP compliant.  Windows XP has a standard called "WIA" Windows Image Acquisition" and if the camera (or whatever device - scanners are included in that) is not WIA compliant, it should still connect but you have to manually copy the pictures as mentioned above.  It has to do with the way the camera formats the memory card, as I have to do the same thing is I use a separate card reader for the camera's memory card.

I have searched for this file and it is not there. Dell Tech support gave the link for USB Drivers but not sure which one download. I have WinXP. Yes I have tried CAMEDIA master to read my camera/memory but it can find it.

Any more suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Ajay
