USB SmartCard Keyboard not recognized

I would appreciate any help given on this problem:  I am loading an Optiplex GX260 with Windows XP SP2.  All updates are done.  BIOS is up to date.  The Dell USB SmartCard Keyboard (model RT7D60) is not recognized -- device manager shows an HID Keyboard Device.  I've removed the keyboard and rebooted to try to make the machine discover the keyboard, no luck.  I've also tried downloading from Dell the driver provided for this model, but the machine will not allow me to load the driver -- it says that the driver in use is the best driver for the device.  I need to get this keyboard recognized.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you very much,
Tracy Laugle

I actually was able to solve this issue using ActivCard Gold v. 2 -- apply both service packs -- and a patch from Dell.  The name of the file is fixs0611011.zip, and it is available from the navy's infosec website.  In addition, ActivCard Gold v. 3 also solves the issue.

Good luck!
