I talked with Dell support. They said the motherboard will support a max. 3.2 GHz processor. The Q6700 is 2.66GHz with 4 cores. Dell support said that means it has 4 x 2.66 GHz which is > 3.2 GHz. Not sure what that means.
Some people (Tom's hardware) have commented that they could use Q6700 but might need extra 5.25 PSU.
I have two Dell Optiplex 745 desktops. They came with Pentium D Dual Core 2.8GHz. Can this LGA 775 motherboard take Core 2 Quad Core Q6700 processor? The Q6700 is 1066 MHz with 8M cache.

Core 2 Quad processors are not supported by the Optiplex 745.

So, do you want an experiment with Q6700 or get Q6600, which most likely works?

A bit late but I am running a Q6600 in a 745MT.Makes a major difference compared to 3.2 duo I replaced n video editing programs.
