Upgrading RAM, OS, and BIOS?

OK, I'm upgrading both memory and going from ME to XP.  I read that for the memory I may need a new BIOS, but only found a BIOS intended just for XP.  So do I first upgrade to XP, then the BIOS, then the OS?
Then again, I also read I don't NEED BIOS for adding the RAM.  So do I add the RAM, then ugrade the BIOS, then load XP?
Does it matter?
Soooo confused.

Regarding the matter of the operating system upgrade....  if you are planning to upgrade to Windows XP and your system has had a BIOS released for that OS then upgrade the BIOS prior to installing Windows XP.  You may want to upgrade the BIOS a day or two prior to doing the OS install.  That way you will have time to see how the new BIOS version is performing.
