Using Dell 256 MB USB Memory Key with a Dimension L700CXE

I am trying to transfer my daughter's files from her OLD Dimension L700CXE running Windows ME to her NEW Dimension 4700 running Windows XP Home Edition.  The OLD Dimension L700CXE does not recognize the device.  It asks me to install the Win ME Operating system she received from DELL and it does  not find the drivers I need: NTKERN.VDX, USBSTOR.SYS, and USBNTMAP.SYS.
 
I am at a loss, can someone help please?

When you put in the Win ME CD, it may ask you for a path to the needed file.  Make the path D:\win9x.  Change the drive letter if needed to match the specific drive letter for your CD drive.  The files can also be manually extracted from the .CAB files on the Win ME CD.  They are stored as follows:
 
1.  NTKERN.VXD is stored in the Win_20.cab
2.  USBSTOR.SYS and USBNTMAP.SYS are both stored in the base2.cab file
 
These .cab files are on your Windows ME CD in the \win9x folder.
