Using a Widescreen Television - Drivers?

Dimension 3000.  Video card *does* support resolutions up to 1920x1200.

I have this computer plugged into the back of a 62 inch DLP Mitsubishi Widescreen Television.  Works great, except it wont display in widescreen resolution.  Only displays as the typical boxy monitor square shape.

I had this working in the past but I had to reinstall windows recently and now can't reproduce it.

Obviously its a driver issue.  The Dell display drivers page for this computer has almost 20 possible drivers listed, apparently for different monitors.

Do you know which driver might go with a true widescreen minotor?  Im assuming thats all I need to install.  The card handles high resolutions, just has the wrong shape resolutions.

Ideally id have a "Mitsubishi DLP Television" display driver that can be installed on any computer attached to it, but .... no such luck.

Really want to fill this huge screen!

Thanks

The Dimension 3000 does "not" have a videocard per se. It is an onboard graphics solution meant to drive a monitor for basic needs. To do what you want, you will need to install a PCI graphics card such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814145087 This link is for the onboard "Video Adapter" drivers: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=DIM_CEL_3000&os=WW1&osl=EN##

Thanks for the input, but you have not mentioned anything about the widescreen issue i raised.

i actually had this thing running full screen once, but had to reinstall windows yesterday and now cannot figure out how to get it back there.  i dare say the only difference is the driver i am currently using, versus the one i was using before.

so you are saying that if i go buy one of the two pci cards below, i will have a beautiful full widescreen experience on my mitsubishi television?

i feel like you're leaving out a step or three.  After i buy the card, then what?

Regarding the second link you posted, i already downloaded the video adaptor drivers, though i didn't know which ones to download.  it would be nice if dell bothered to explain which is which to the customer.... but i just downloaded the top one in the list.  should i have downloaded one of the others/

Under the "Video Adapter" option there is only (4) four drivers. If you downloaded the four different drivers, then it is going to be trial and error if you do not know which one is on your motherboard, which could probably be found on your original invoice.
As to install a PCI card solution; in the Video Forum header, there is explicit directions on how to install a PCI video card in the Dim 3000 series. No steps left out, everything you need to know is available with a little searching

You still have not addressed the widescreen question, which is still in the Title of this thread.

my quesiton, (third times a charm?) again is:

1)  Do i need to buy a new pci card in order to use widescreen on my television?
2)  I had widescreen working with the existing hardware.  thoughts?

Could someone please give me a direct answer on what is needed to view your computer on a "Computer Enabled" widescreen television?

Much appreciated.
