Vostro 200 two beeps won't boot

I have a Vostro 200.  I added a 1 gig  ram stick to the two half gigs in there.  I purchased the correct stick per Best buy rep. The computer will not boot up and gives two beeps.  I tried going back to original config and still get two beeps.  Any ideas I can try? tks  Vic
