Your system takes the SATA HD, just make sure you have the latest BIOS, and have all the updates. As for your Graphics card, you have a slim line system, so you will need a low profile graphics card HERE.

Hi moonrays00,
There is no problem upgrading to a 1TB drive on your system.
For video cards, tell me what you use your computer for, for example, what kinds of games do you play?

If you want to play Crysis, you'll definitely need the most powerful card you can get, and that's probably the Sapphire in the link I provided. I think it would be prudent to update the power supply as well, using the Seasonic TFX in the link I provided.

It's the most powerful I can think of that's currently available. There was a 5750-based card on the market for a short while, but it's no longer available and it requires a 400-watt power supply.
Any 3.5-inch SATA hard drive will work in the 220s. Do make sure you have a set of the special shoulder screws used to mount it -- sometimes there's a set taped to the front of the chassis on the inside of the bezel.

The 220s has room for two hard drives; the motherboard has several SATA posts, more than enough for two hard drives and an optical drive.
I am not sure if the 220s had different motherboards available, but unless you're changing the CPU from a dual core to a quad core, that won't matter.

As a 220s owner, this sounds like a power supply or motherboard issue. The first item I'd test is the power supply, but the only easy way to do this is to swap in a known good working unit like the Seasonic 300-watt TFX.

I am having a lot of problems upgrading the hd to 1tb. I have a Dell Vostro 220s wVista. It had a Seagate 250Gb hd failed (would not read). I installed a new WD 1Tb black hd. Upon inserting Dell reinstall disk, got gray screen with very intermittent hd activity light (let it run for 24hrs, no change). I tried Dell Driver disk and got got a code 0F00:1332 on multiple blockes (Interupt request IRQ ot sent in time)(Confidence test).
Then, I changed to a MS 7 Pro OEM and got through setup and into where to install windows Tried to install, but I got “Failed to format the selected partition Error 0X80070057.” I deleted all partitions and created new one, with the same error. Any suggestions/help.
