When will XPS 410 get Stereo Mix with Sigmatel Audio?
Ive seen a couple drivers for other Dell systems that enable Stereo Mix on the Sigmatel Audio systems, and I was wondering when to expect the drivers to enable it on the XPS 410 desktop, as those ones that I saw (R171789) do not apply to the XPS 410 desktop. Does this have to do with the RIAA or anyone like that?

Since it predates my system delivery by 5 months, I assume it's what I already have, which is not much.

After 2 days trying I finally came up with a fairly painless way of doing this. Drawbacks are you lose 5.1 sound( only speaker jack in the back and front works and the mic input on the front works. Maybe someone could figure out how to get those operational.
It does however make Stereo Mix functional as well as the line input monitor.
I downloaded this driver pack from Dell.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R171789&SystemID=XPS_M1710&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8907&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=3&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=235761
Only thing I needed from there was The Stacapi.dll
I then copied it over to the recommended driver install from Dell.
I modified the setup.ini to read like this:
[SIGMATEL]StacSysTrayName=sttray.exe
ForceRebootAfter=1
I modified the INI thus:
You have to make sure you use the right INI but thats fairly east to find out. Good Luck.
In the last 5 years I have bought 3 pc's from dell. From now on I build the rest. I will NEVER buy another thing from them.
