Where is my Start button???

I have a 2 year old son, so every once and a while I find something interesting on my computer. Today I have no start button in the lower left hand corner, the screen is a complete desktop with no start or time on the bottom. It is not hidden and if I place my pointer as low as I can go and right click I have the choice for active desktop thhrough properties. I don't even know if I can blame this one on him yet. Poor little guy Any sugestions. Thanks.

silvernailm,

When you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, just before it disappears off the monitor it should turn to a double-headed arrow which will allow you to drag the taskbar back up onto the display. It certainly sounds like it has been dragged off and the double-headed arrow can sometimes be displayed for only a very brief period as your cursor passes the proper point.
