Win Vista OS reinstall SM Bus controller
Hi - I recently had a DellDock App. error that would not recover and had to do an OS reinstall. I was advised and thought I followed the proper procedure by installing the OS Vista disc and it is up and working - seems ok, But after doing a device manager check I now see that it is reporting the SM bus controller is not working correctly and/or has no driver installed. I then looked this problem up and Dell recommends the driver be installed in a specific order, that I`m afraid I have missed doing-oops.
Can I still install the driver safely or ?. Thank You.

You need to install the Intel chipset software, which is available from Intel's download site as well as Dell.

Hi RandyC123,
It is always advised to install the drivers in proper sequence, so that you don't face any functionality issue. You may still go ahead and install the drivers right now. There shall be no harm in doing so. Please share the exact system model if you need any assistance with the drivers.
Also, share the Hardware Ids of the device which has a bang in the Device Manager, this will assist me to identify device and its drivers. Here are the steps:
Please reply if you have any questions.
