This thread is a bit old for comment, and already resolved. But as for your comment, the only thing that I see referencing Windows 7 is the first bit, where it says that if you have just received a machine using Win 7 and you have Data Safe Local installed you can create a set of restore disks. The rest of the form requests a back-up installation CD and the resource CD having the drivers for your system. What you get sent will be the CDs pertaining to the operating system that was delivered originally with the computer.

HERE is the (US Customers) on line Dell form for requesting a free set of discs. You must be the registered (registered Dell) user.

thank you - the problem is that when I put in the tag number - it says not available - I have found a spot on line that sells them

That link is not for the xp recovery cd - it is for windows 7 users to get their software.
