Windows installation

Hello,

I've recently got SMART Short Self Test Failed error with my primary hard drive. I'm going to buy a new one and replace. How can I re-install my Windows 8.1. I don't have any serial number because Windows was pre-installed?

Thank you in advance!

regards,

Boris

Back up your personal files from that drive on external media immediately. :emotion-5:

Create installation media for Windows 8.1

The product key is stored in BIOS so you shouldn't need to know it to reinstall Win 8.1.

Maybe this is the time to upgrade to Win 10 on the new drive while the upgrade is still free?

Thanks buddy!

I didn't know that Windows serial could be uploaded to BIOS :)

I'll try as soon as new hard disk is delivered and let you know the result!

Have a great day!

Cheers,

Boris
