WindowsME shutdown problem
When I shutdown windows ME, the monitor goes blank, but the CPU does not shut down. I must hold the power button for about 8 seconds and it finally quits.
This does not typically happen when I have only been up for a short time. If I have been up for a while, it happens almost always.
Tech support said that the problem was Norton Antivirus and that I must disable Norton before I shut down.
Any other suggestions.

I have a "new" "refurbished" 8200 Dell with a 1.7 processor. Came with a network card, but just got that into use over Thanksgiving weekend. Soon after this the problem started.
