Writing software files into registry

I have an old Dell Dimension 8400 Computer.  It doesn't write the software files into the registry

when I try to intall the software.

Hi bobeep2,

I will be glad to help you. Request you to let me know if you get any error message. Also send me a screenshot of the error message that appears.

This could happen due to a virus issue or an operating system issue.  Request you to run a virus scan and check if it works. If it doesn’t work then try backing up the data. Then reinstall the operating system and the software.

I cancelled the install of the printer software and can't copy the error message unless I reinstall the software.

The error message was I-5026 - Move Data File.  I will do a virus scan and reinstall the operating system as you

recommended.

Thank you.  bobeep2

Hi bobeep2,

You may try reinstalling the software to see if you can capture the error message. Then you can run a virus scan. If no errors are found then the last option is to reinstall the operating system after backing up all the data.

Given the age of this unit its likely that the drive is Bad.

Files are not written into the registry.  The Registry is a File but it is not a file container or folder.
