XFX 9800GT on Dell 375W

Hi. I have a Dell Dimension 9200 which has a 375W power supply. Now, I was wondering if I would be able to run the video card stated above (XFX 9800GT) without having to upgrade the PSU. Does anyone know if this would work ok?

It will work fine without having to upgrade the psu.

The 9800GT only requires a single power connector and uses about as much power as an 8800 GT.

The D9200 was sold with an 8800 GTX that uses about 4 amps more power, Dell used a pcie power splitter in order to make the dual power connections that were needed.

Hi Rossdh0, If the 9800 took its power of the mobo, then there would be no problem. However, the 9800 needs an supplementary power connector with 6-pin x 2. If your PSU does not support that, then it will mean installing an new PSU. See HERE for your PSU, and HERE for details of the 9800.

Do you know if the XFX 9800GT 'XXX' would work ok? It's been overclocked so might draw more power?

It's still not going to draw as much power as the 8800 GTX or even the overclocked 8800GTS that is in my D9200.

I've passed this machine on to a family member, but it's still running the 8800.
