Thank you!

Can you recommend or know of any by brand name?  I took it in to Microcenter and found a Earthwatts one for $40.  Picked up my CPU an hour later and they put in a 400 watt StarTech for older models of Dell computers.  It is double the cost, doesn't fit properly with large gap and extremely noisy.  They insist this is the only one on the planet that will fit/work with my puter.

The gap is unavoidable when installing a retail psu, as for the Antec not working, they are wrong.

Which Antec 380 or 430 ?

It was the 380 and I looked at the Basiq ones as well.  They had many brands and many different price ranges at MicroCenter.  If I can find one that is quiet and hopefully less money then I will go back in.  Very annoyed that I got the must use Dell product line from them and they didn't even bother to tell me until I paid for the installation when complete.  On top of that I paid for cleaning and get it home and still have cat hair in the fan in the front.

An Antec Earthwatts power supply should fit the XPS 400 and is a good unit.

The XPS400 system does not use a Dell proprietary power supply, you can use most standard ATX power supplies with either, a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector and with a minimum of 2-SATA power connectors.

As the D-9150 has an open back panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply, from most local, or online computer stores.

I'd be annoyed too.

Print this to take with you when you go, maybe they will be able to tell that's a Dell that the Antec is in.
